About Us

We care about you and we want to help you build your website step-by-step.

You may be thinking, “I want to do this, but I don’t know how, or even where to begin. I don’t even know what questions to ask.”

We understand. We have experienced what you may be experiencing now. In fact, that’s exactly how and why we got started…

Founder and CEO, Thea Woods kept getting numerous requests from friends, family members, writers, churches, small and larger business owners etc… if she or anyone she knew could help them with their projects. Many of them had seen samples of her clever writing style, as well as her artistic gift of taking something simple and common and making it into something beautiful – without breaking the bank!

“Ever since I was in middle school, I always loved being different and doing something unique. There were times that teachers accused me of plagiarism or cheating on a project, because it looked like I hired a professional to do it for me. I remember one instance in the 9th or 10th grade, where a teacher made me show her all of my notes and rough drafts to prove I had done it myself! Isn’t that crazy?”

“My friends would always laugh at me and tease me for having to ‘show everyone up’ on projects. When others would hand in a report, it would be a standard black-and-white stapled report; or for those with a bit more pizzazz, a 99-cents plastic cover as a bonus. But not for ME! I’d have colorful covers with professional card stock paper, colored images, various fonts, photos with captions, and the whole nine yards! Looking back, I probably went a bit overboard with those projects [laughs], but it was just something I had to do to keep me interested in the project. If my name was going to be on something, you bet it better look good! Plus, I’m sure my teachers appreciated it – after all, some of them needed a little surprise here and there after reading 200 black and white reports on the ecosystem, don’tcha think?”

So throughout high school and college, whenever there were group projects Thea often took the roll as the one who would gather the information, pull the project together, create the PowerPoint presentation, organize the games, create the handouts – anything that had to do with the finishing touches of making a good presentation better.

“I remember one time in my senior year at Villanova, I had my group members email me all of their portions of the team assignment. Some of them didn’t complete it until the last minute. There I was, sitting in the class right before our presentation, with no opportunity in-between classes to work on the project. I sat in a boring music class (while everyone was taking naps during the long video presentation) and pulled out my laptop, created a magazine brochure with the text that my team emailed me and emailed it to the print center that was located in the same building as the class that my group would be presenting in. One hour later we picked up the copies and handed them out to the class. My group members were like ‘how in the world did you pull that off so fast? We JUST emailed it to you?'”

As time went on, Thea found herself in more situations where people needed an editor and asked her to edit and redesign their materials. She began editing newsletters, correspondence letters, redesigning manuals, designing flyers, and more… for all sorts of people and organizations: ministries, entrepreneurs, authors, radio hosts, and the list is growing every day. Once the requests began to consume much of the time she was using to work on things she was less passionate about, a light-bulb went off: “Why am I running away from this? If I keep getting requests for these services, that means it's in high demand. Plus, it's something I enjoy doing. So maybe this is what I should be doing for a living?!”

Thea decided (after much prompting by friends and confirmation by God) to take a step of faith and The Website Managers was born!

However there was one not-quite-so-minor problem:

“I was NOT a professional graphic designer. I only know the extreme basics of HTML. I wasn't a WordPress expert…YET (but soon will be). I thought ‘how the heck am I going to start a business that provides services I don't possess all the skills to do?’

As a result, Thea kept procrastinating, over analyzing and second-guessing herself. However, no matter how she tried to escape it, more people kept contacting her for these kinds of services. Deep down inside she kept hearing a voice telling her “you’ve GOT to step up and do this! This is what you were born to do!”

“I considered going back to college for web and graphic design, but hated the idea of going back to college. Um, I’d rather tweeze my eyebrows with my fingernails. No offense to any educators (some of you are THEBOMB.com!) but standard education is not my cup of tea."

“Then I considered partnering with others who were already skilled in graphic and web design, and instead become the main go-between and team manager of the projects; because after all – I DID graduate with a Bachelors degree in Management and this would be catering to my strengths. I tested out a few projects here and there, while still working on the side taking care of TONS of children. I considered starting a day care/after-school program, because I kept getting so many referrals and had to turn down requests. I might still do that in the next year or two. But I'm focusing on one thing at a time right now. I did all sorts of stuff!

“But I had a lot of fear that maybe I wasn’t really cut out for this web design/marketing thing yet. After all, I HAVE been blessed to have some great opportunities in the past with some great companies and great people. I considered just going back and get a ‘regular 9-5 job’ that would pay me handsomely, but I often wasn't working quite in the fields I am most passionate and best suited for."

"I thought that perhaps I had jumped the gun. I didn’t feel confident in myself and as a result kept turning down opportunities that had been coming my way, out of fear of failure.”

Thea at Sandi Krakowski The Total Online Blue Print EventFinally, one day Thea re-stumbled across Sandi Krakowski while on Dani Johnson's website and then followed her on Facebook and twitter. Sandi is a copywriting expert who trains people to be able to run their own businesses from their computer (and Smartphones!) using the internet, social media and WordPress. She breaks things down into terms that the average person can understand, and reignited a confidence that Thea started to lose.

“I also continued studying others who were Masters of their crafts and realized that none of them reached those levels on their own. From Henry Ford, to Oprah, to Donald Trump (and many more!) – these individuals stated that the reason they were successful was because they surrounded themselves with people who were smarter than them, and hired employees who were highly skilled. This allowed them to have the freedom and flexibility to work within their strengths, while outsourcing their weaknesses. By doing this, it would allow those who were hired to use their expertise to make these great individuals (and their companies) an enormous success.

Thea has the same mission for The Website Managers:

“I can’t make false claims that I am an expert so-and-so or that I can make you a millionaire in 23.4 days and a billionaire by Christmas. I do not have all the answers, because in case you haven’t noticed – I am not God and my name is not Jesus Christ, sorry. I do promise, however, to surround myself with a great team of people who are skilled at what they do, so that together we can provide great products and services for our clients. I promise to continue to invest in myself and my business so that through the right mentorship my company and my team remain sharp. Together we will provide our clients with the best tools and resources help them achieve great results in whatever fields they are passionate about. And if we don’t know how to do something, we are not ashamed to refer you to someone else who can help you much better than I (or any of our teammates) can at that particular moment. I mean that!”
